This drum set is beyond perfect for beginner, student or intermediate in my opinion. I was surprised the whole kit came in a single box but everything arrived in perfect condition and works, and sounds amazing. I'm no professional drummer but a musician and neither is my son as he's starting out. For the price not sure anything comes close and my son is sounding better than his First Act set he's been playing for lessons. He sounds better and is more confident with a full set.
In terms of setup: If you don't know much about drums I would try to download instructions or speak to someone who can help as this kit includes everything and you'll have to install lots of bolts, drum heads and all hardware. I was surprised that there were no directions but if you know what a drum set looks like the pieces all match and you can quickly figure it out.
The color and construction do not appear cheap but high quality with a great metallic blue shell. I was surprised again...

Pretty dang good
I just got this drum set mainly because of the price... I've been looking for a drum set for 6? years now. I finally got a good job, and was able to afford one, and for ~190 bucks, this was perfect.
Now to the real reveiw:
As an experienced musician, this set could be better
As someone who has only played other peoples drum sets, this one is awesome.
Get it. Learn how to tune and muffle the sounds until you like how it plays, get yourself a better ride cymbal (the stock one sucks), get yourself a decent crash cymbal, and you're set.
Honestly, you probably won't find a much better drum set, especially for the price.
You really can't tell the difference between this one and a 400$ set... on the other hand, a 700 - 1400$ set will sound a ton better.

Excellent beginner drum set at affordable price
Drum set is excellent for the price. We have a friend who set it up for us because we would not have a clue to where even begin. The color is beautiful and my son is enjoying it!
