Great Set.
I own a Yamaha Recording Custom and was reluctant to "settle" for a intro model, but wanted something more suitable for jazz. After careful consideration, I got a set. I immediately changed the heads to fiberskyns and the sound is great. I'm blown away with how good it actually sounds for jazz and if you want to keep the bass drum tuned low, it's pretty powerful for rock/fusion. Definitely a good sounding set.

good birch set
i like how this 3 piece is simple with good birch sound. it grooves well. i have this piece with 5 different cymbals, a jam block, a masters series maple snare and double peds. for the price, size and birch, this is a good drum set.
Great Set For the Cost
I was looking for a drum kit that I could use in smaller venues but couldn't lay down a lot of money for the kit. I have had these drums for over a year now and love them. They are perfect for what I wanted them for - playing in smaller clubs and other smaller venues. I frequently get comments from other drummers on the sound of the drums and especially the bass drum.
An added bonus has been they are great recording shells as well. They have a very clean recording sound.
I like that the kit comes with only the 2 toms and bass drum. Many kits of this type also come with a matching snare drum. I would rather put the money into the tom and bass drum shells since I already own several snares.
I would highly recommend this kit. A great deal and solid drums for the cost.
